The gas in galaxy clusters is enriched in metal, elements heavier than helium, typically to about 30% of solar metallicity. However, stars a relatively rare in clusters, meaning that the amount of metal produced per star is about 3 times as much as in the Milky Way. Metals should also form mostly in galaxies and remain bound to their progenitor systems. I will discuss how extra metal can be produced through changes to the number and type of supernova in cluster galaxies, and present simulations of how metal is transported from galaxies into the cluster gas by the action of AGN jets.
