Cell-cell interactions are the fundamental building block for bulk cell phenomena. Cytoplasmic calcium
concentration is believed to be a indicator for high cell activity, including exchanging signaling queues with
nearby cells. With the future goal of analyzing in vitro calcium measurements to uncover the monolayer
network structure from ground up, we must investigate the causal structure of micro communities to
inform the large-scale structure. To this end, we employ the Convergent Cross Mapping causality inference
method to probe the causal structure of the simplest network motif, chains of oscillators. We find causality
results that agree with intuition over a wider-than-expected range of parameters.
