Monte Carlo Integration

It is hard to believe there is much value in using Monte-Carlo techniques to approximate integrals, after all we do not want to gamble on their values! Yet we shall see that while the error in evaluating a one dimensional integral with a fixed number of integration points is significantly larger with Monte-Carlo techniques than the integration techniques studied earlier, if we must evaluate multi-dimensional integrals with dimension greater than 4, then Monte-Carlo techniques are preferred.
