The GSC (Graduate Student Council) will be hosting a workshop on the preliminary oral exam (advance to candidacy)! In this workshop we will be going over the following:

1. Brief introduction to the purpose of prelims
2. Preparation for prelims
3. More details about the two parts of prelims (Thesis proposal and Presentation on self-taught topic)
4. Additional considerations (paperwork, what happens after the exam, etc.)
