AT REST

A hockey puck is released from rest in Chicago. The puck is seen by the inertial observer to be moving east with a speed equal to the local earth speed (in Chicago) and follows a great circle in the inertial frame. The earthbound observer sees the puck head south, and attributes this to the centrifugal force. At later times, the puck heads slightly west due to a higher order Coriois effect.
