Ph213 General Physics with Calculus
Physics Department, Oregon State University
Winter 2016 term
This is the third course of three in the calculus-based general physics sequence. The sequence is a comprehensive, introductory survey course intended primarily for students in the sciences and engineering. This Ph213 course introduces students to electricity and magnetism, including static electricity, electric force, field and potential, simple circuit analysis, magnetic force, magnetic interactions, electromagnetic induction, and electromagnetic fields and waves.
Most importantly, the goal is for the student to acquire knowledge of some basic physics principles, make sense of these principles, and develop the skills necessary not to just know about physics but to be able to do physics.
