- Read the digital logic chapter of Simpson.
Introduction
- This task will continue the study of digital logic gates and applications begun in PH412. It begins with
analyses of the basic AND, OR, NOT, NOR, NAND and XOR gates built with the 74LS and 74AHCT technologies.
More complex gates such as the D-type flip flop and monostable multivibrator will be introduced. Simple
applications of these devices will include the crystal oscillator, shift register and binary counter. The more
complex applications of the digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and analog-to-digital converter (ADC) will be explored.
- Datasheets and overviews of digital logic families are available on the
PH412 Logic Gates page.
