Scheduling

Each term has three Paradigms courses at 2 credits each, for a total of 6 credits per term. The Paradigms courses are 3 weeks each. Students taking any of the Winter Term Paradigms, are also required to take a 4th week, at the BEGINNING of term, called the Preface, which all the Winter term Paradigms share in common. Similarly, students taking any of the Spring Term Paradigms, are required to take a common 4th week, called the Postscript, at the END of term. Ten Paradigms exist, but since only 9 fit into the junior year, two of the spring term Paradigms (Rigid Bodies and Reference Frames) are currenly offered in alternate years.  We anticipate the the Rigid Bodies Paradigm will be combined with the Classical Mechanics Capstone, beginning spring 2009.

All the Paradigms courses are scheduled at 13:00-13:50 on M, W, F and 12:00-13:50 on T, R (i.e. 7 hours per week). A brief description of each course can be found by clicking on the links on the Course Information page.

Paradigms, Prefaces and Postscripts always begin on a Monday and end on a Friday.   A calendar for the current academic year can be found here.
