A typical path for the courses that are required for a BS degree in Physics, without an option, is given below. In addition, the university requires students to complete the baccalaureate core. Students in the Physics program will automatically fulfill the mathematic skills category by taking MTH 251 and the physical science category by taking the introductory physics and chemistry courses. The WIC requirement of the baccalaureate core is fulfilled by three terms of PH 403 in the senior year. Students selecting an option will have the opportunity to replace some upper division courses by courses connected with the option selected.

(*) Students chose either PH 415 or PH 464.

(**) Three credits of PH 401, Research, are required. Although they can be taken in other combinations than scheduled   here, it is strongly recommended to start research in winter term of the junior year. Students taking external internships as a basis for their research should discuss this with the head advisor.

(***) Only one course of MTH 253 and MTH 306 needs to be taken. Students interested in a MTH minor or double major should take MTH 253 in Spring. Other students should take MTH 306 in Winter and MTH 256 in Spring.

(****) The courses MTH 255, PH 315, and PH 335 can be taken in the junior year by transfer students.

(#) Many community colleges offer a 200 level linear algebra course. It is recommended that you take such a course if available before starting the junior year. If not possible, MTH 341 can be taken in the Fall term of the junior year.

The total number of credits in this program is 117. There are an additional 37 credits needed for the baccalaureate core. The minimum number of credits for required for graduation is 180, which leaves 26 credits of unrestricted electives.
